About
What's wrong with my screen? helps everyday people work out what's wrong with a laptop, monitor, Chromebook or MacBook screen, and whether it's worth fixing, without wading through forum threads.
How we check our answers
- Every fix comes from a manufacturer support page (such as Apple, Google, Microsoft, Dell, Lenovo, ASUS, Acer or Samsung), an established tech publication, or a recognized repair guide.
- Each fix links to its source, and each page shows the date we last checked it.
- Steps that carry a risk to you or your device are marked with a warning.
- Repair costs are only shown when we can point to where the number comes from.
Our tools
The screen test, diagnosis quiz and repair-or-replace calculator run entirely in your browser. Nothing you enter is sent anywhere.
How the site is funded
Some pages link to products, and we may earn a commission if you buy through them. It never changes our advice. See our affiliate disclosure.
